Their hands-on experience
with some of nature’s deadliest and most threatened wildlife,
a penchant for adventure, and a lifetime spent traveling the
world as musicians in the entertainment industry, led to their
media nickname, ‘The Shark Brothers’. It’s
one they’ve gladly adopted and when asked, ‘Why
sharks’? Their response is swift. ‘For us, it all
started when we saw the movie, JAWS, as little kids. Our initial
fear soon turned to a complete fascination and respect for these
animals and their marine habitats. That changed everything for
us’.
Now, as divers, anglers, researchers and filmmakers, they specialize
in leveraging that experience and their entertainment background
to shine a dedicated spotlight on these formidable, but fragile
apex predators. The brothers are firm believers that ‘When
executed effectively, entertainment can be used as a powerful
education and motivational tool. If our efforts can provoke
and inspire people to truly enjoy, value and respect the planet’s
natural resources, then they’ll feel compelled to join
in efforts to protect them'.

As
known specialists in research tagging and related resource management
efforts, they’re credited with perfecting live-animal documentation
procedures that inspired the 'International Land-Based Shark Fishing
Association'. Founded by them in 2006, it's the first and only organization
to promote and officially certify world-records for released sharks.
They've been instrumental in pioneering sanctioned shark release
tournaments and are staunch advocates for the rights of responsible
recreational sportsmen and women.
Film
and TV projects include a documentary chronicling the history and
evolution of recreational sport fishing for sharks, during part
of which, they lived with and filmed the last years of the sport's
founding father, Frank 'The Monster Man' Mundus. Mundus was the
real-life inspiration for the book and movie, JAWS, and its shark-hunting
character, 'Captain Quint'. The brothers' lives and work are also
routinely documented for the upcoming non-fiction television series,
'Adventure and Wildlife' and the televised tournament series, The
Guy Harvey Ultimate Shark Challenge. |
Currently,
they're Creators, Co-Directors, Research Coordinators and
Production Supervisors of the Guy Harvey Ultimate Shark
Challenge. Strategic alliances in this effort include respected
individuals and organizations from the angling, marine conservation,
scientific research and tournament communities. In 2010,
they brothers succeeded in their mission for this groundbreaking
effort to establish the sustainable gold standard shark
release tournament format of the future by effectively combining
the goals of sport, science and conservation.
In
addition to their work with sharks, the brothers lend their
time and experience as volunteers with various wildlife
rescue centers in their southwest Florida community, specializing
in the recovery, rehabilitation and reintroduction of injured
and orphaned wildlife species, ranging from alligators to
eagles.

All
these efforts are documented for use in various projects aimed at
giving much deserved credit to those they work with and refer to
as ‘wildlife’s unsung heroes’. The brothers are
frequently asked to appear as featured guests on network talk shows
and are the ongoing subject of many print and mainstream news features
focusing on their work.
