'Believe it or not, without sharks, we'd all be in a lot of trouble'

As big game anglers, divers, researchers and filmmakers, we don't fear sharks, but we are concerned about an uncertain future for some species of this majestic marine predator.
w
In an all-out effort to turn the tide on rapidly decling shark populations worldwide, we're actively doing our part to practice, promote and support catch-and-release shark fishing, tagging programs, other vital research and public education.

Our respect for these animals began in our youth and continues to this day, with a renewed passion and commitment to help ensure their long-term survival. Over-fishing and habitat destruction, combined with abiding cultural traditions, has created far more pressure than sharks can realistically bear.

The good news is, that by working together, we can turn the tide. That's why, over the years, we've remained proactive in reaching out to our fellow anglers and the sport fishing industry, members of the scientific research and conservation communities, and the media to encourage a constructive sense of cooperation. It's a rewarding experience for us, and a challenge worth taking on, in our efforts to effect real, measurable differences that we can all, hopefully, realize in our lifetimes.

"As lifelong sportsmen, and big game anglers, in particular, we don't condemn anyone for exercising their legal right to harvest an animal. We do, however, practice, promote and strongly encourage the responsible use, enjoyment and management of all our natural resources, and do not condone purely wasteful practices of any kind. Consequently, we support the Shark Free Marina Initiative (SFMI) as a forward-thinking, sensible and reasonable option that marina owners, as well as the sporting and general public should be made aware of".
