Brooks
and his brother, Sean, settled in Los Angeles for nearly a decade
working as both live & studio musicians. This led to touring
opportunities with Phil Ramone- produced artist Swamp Boogie Queen
where Brooks applied his years of entertainment industry experience
as their production & tour manager. They hit the road and
rocked the masses with legendary artists such as The Doobie Brothers,
Lynyrd Skynyrd and Kenny Wayne Shepherd, just to name a few. By
the age of 25, Brooks had been to every state in the union, France,
England and most all of the Caribbean Islands.
However,
it
was the time that Brooks spent in Alaska in the 1990's that really
pointed him back to his roots in nature. While there, he lived
and worked with the Tlingit Indians crabbing, salmon & halibut
fishing, and was part of a team that rescued & rehabilitated
orphaned seals. He spent much of his free time there studying
brown bears and eagles, and their important role in indian culture.
After
moving back to Florida, he worked behind and in front of the camera
as a special effects makeup artist and on-screen talent for television
projects, such as the Investigation Discovery Channel's 'Crimes
That Shook the World II', other independent films & commercials.
Brooks'
work with sharks, related research and conservation efforts have
been featured on national talk shows and in other media. Along
with his brother, Sean, they're hosting a television series that
chronicles their ongoing exploits in the outdoors and the work
they do to promote the sustainability of natural resources. Additional
credits include, co-founder of the International Land-Based Shark
Fishing Association, the first organization to officially certify
world records for released sharks and co-director and production
supervisor of the Ultimate Shark Challenge.
