We finally picked Frank up in New York on June 11, 2007. That was nearly a month before the official kickoff of the summer shark fishing season in Montauk marked by the 'Star Island Yacht Club & Marina' Tournament. By following the links below, you can trace our steps from June or jump into the action wherever you want. As of this writing, it's August 21st and we're knee-deep in the production of the series, negotiating distribution, playing with the sharks, handling press obligations and promotions, converting the Cricket II to a full-time research vessel, working with TLC on a Monster Man / Great White-themed motorcycle for the television series, 'American Chopper', and so much more we can't begin to tell you. Time is moving fast and we have a lot coming at us, but one thing's for sure, we're having the time of our lives and we're just getting started.

Like everything else, this segment was also filmed and it documents our brief visit with Bert Pence before we grab Frank at LaGuardia and head for Montauk where he'll be reunited with the Cricket II.

Bert Pence's flat in Manhattan (above). Some nice digs for weary travelers. Causing trouble with Frank Mundus (below) the same day we met Bert in Montauk.

The Three Musty Steers
The sequence below represents a proud moment for the two of us and the others involved with getting the Cricket II back into Frank's hands. The pictures speak for themselves.
An interesting shot above. Looming in the background is a replica of the largest fish of any kind ever caught on rod and reel. It just so happens to be the same one memorialized on the back of Frank's shirt -- a great white weighing 3,427 pounds.
Joined by Captain Tommy Hoffman (2nd from left above), we plan a list of final necessary restoration and repair items. Later that night, Brooks and I (below) take a few moments over a cold one ... or two and contemplate what we've gotten ourselves into. It's another proud moment.
The next day the Screwy Crew of the Cricket II assembles to tackle the list.
Frank (above) gets under the hood ... way under the hood
Brooks displays his skills with a table saw demonstrating its devastating effect on both hard wood and soft tissue.

A visit and interview with Corey Kilgannon from the New York Times (above left).

The next day we'd be heading to our old stomping grounds at Liberty Landing Marina in Jersey City across from Manhattan. We had some good friends and fellow adventurers there setting off to row across the Atlantic Ocean in a few days, and we need to help give them a proper send off. That that's tomorrow so there's still time for a quick nightcap at one of our favorite Montauk watering holes ... Salivar's.

It brings us great pleasure to thank some very special people and organizations for their vital role in making this a all a reality. Without their continued help, expertise, support, and friendship, the road to Montauk and beyond would've been a hell of a lot steeper.
